New HSK 2 Lesson 2 Grammar 2 Approximate Numbers with 多

多 [duō] after a number means the quantity is a little more than that number.

十多岁 [shí duō suì]
more than 10 years old (11, 12, 13...)

more than 20 people (21, 22, 23...)

more than 30 books

✅ Number ends in 0 (10, 20, 30...) → put 多 right after the number:
十多岁 [shí duō suì] more than 10 years old
二十多块钱 [èrshí duō kuài qián]  more than 20 yuan

✅ Number does not end in 0 → put 多 after the measure word:
五个多小时 [wǔ gè duō xiǎoshí] more than 5 hours
三本多书 [sān běn duō shū] more than 3 books

What does it mean?
More than 20 years old.
More than 10 people.
More than 4 books.
